Stop what you are doing* and read my paper on fintech, federalism, and federalization
Here it is, finally, the paper I hope you all have been waiting for. The paper that will cut through the smoke and provide the path forward for our debates on how fintech should be regulated at the federal and state level.
Ok, that might be a little optimistic, but I do hope my new paper “Federalism and Federalization on the Fintech Frontier” contributes to the debate by providing a framework for deciding whether the states or federal government should regulate, based on three criteria — efficiency, competitive equity, and political equity . There is a short summary to whet your appetite, but it is worth reading the whole thing.
Update: If you are a fan of SSRN the paper is also available there.
